Social Status Presents: The 1st & 15th Community Film Screening

The story of perseverance enveloped the city of Charlotte on October 27th, 2023 at Camp North End for the film screening of The 1st & 15th, a Social Status story. This was a celebration of the communities that brought this story to life and a movement to show the world the importance of powerful storytelling.

The night featured the screening of the full short film followed by a panel discussion with Khaleel Loyd, Director and Owner of Loyd Visuals, Ricky Singh, DJ Fannie Mae “Drip”, Izarian Lipkin “Q”, and Khalif Guiden “Trap” as known in the film. Alongside a community vendor market, live DJ entertainment, live painting, and screenprinting.

THE COMMUNITY MARKET

Food selections from local favorites included creative cocktail catering by Black Moth Bars and Surefire Neighborhood Market as seen in the film, creating a firsthand experience from the film’s notable neighborhood market by bringing their signature hot dogs and concession items.

Attendees had the opportunity to enjoy live music by DJ Fannie Mae and Aquite while exploring local vendors Hum Haus, Westcott, Kollextive, Sole Wash Co., and an exclusive Charlotte hat drop from FittedsCLT. Additionally, guests were immersed in an art exhibition and live painting by local artist, Inigma. Mac Fly Fresh screenprinting made it possible for locals to leave with a meaningful keepsake with exclusive Social Status: 1st & 15th tote bags. In celebration of the project, euphoria filled the room with rhythmic sounds, dancing, and connection.

THE SCREENING

Members from The Whitaker Grp’s Discord server were part of the journey from the beginning by being featured in the film and were invited back with a warm welcome for a full circle moment to view the film in person and receive a pair of the Social Status x Nike Attack. With over 180 guests in attendance, the highlight of the night was undoubtedly the community gathering and directing their attendance to the big screen, the room quieted as the story of The 1st & 15th unraveled in front of everyone. A story of perseverance when you might not have it all figured out, but working hard enough to accept the opportunities that come your way and learning from the risks and victories.
