Recap: Up Close With Krystle Rodriguez

This past weekend, we had the opportunity to attend the Up Close Series with stylist Krystle Rodriguez at the New Gallery of Modern Art Museum in downtown Charlotte. Now if you're not familiar with Krystle Rodriguez, she's a stylist who has worked with the likes of Madonna, Mariah Carey, Chris Brown, Pharrell Williams, and even Kanye West. Krystle sat down with Simone Suber (curator of the event) for a 1-on-1 interview and answered questions regarding her upbringing, her journey in the industry, tackling obstacles and much more. We had the honor of getting some words from her regarding her experience on the Saint Pablo Tour with Kanye West, where she helped style the set and costumes. Read it below. 

"The Saint Pablo Tour was amazing. It was definitely a dream come true. It was someone who I had wanted to work for, for a very long time. So when the opportunity came, I couldn't say no! I feel like people definitely misunderstand him [Kanye]. I feel like when he doesn't have an audience, he's very reserved and to himself and with me, anyone that acknowledges you, says "hello," "please," and "thank you" is good in my book and that was exactly the experience that I got. I definitely learned a lot. It was amazing to be around him and see how he works creatively. I was super sad when the tour had to come to an end." - Krystle Rodriguez on her Saint Pablo Tour experience.
