Air Moves You: Nike SW Air Max 1/97
A hybrid of the Air Max 1 and Air Max 97, the Sean Wotherspoon Air Max 1/97 channels all of his personal likings and influences. Sean Wotherspoon made a name for himself being a vintage Lover and the face of his own consignment shop. All of these elements went into the design of his sneaker. Material such as denim and corduroy being used highlights his affinity for vintage gear. Other key features include interchangeable tongue patches as well as the Air Max 1 sole unit and Air Max 97 upper.
This is considered to be the biggest release of Air Max Day 2018 so we wanted to see what the consumers in our Charlotte, Houston, and Atlanta markets had to say about the sneaker and its impact for this edition of the #AirMovesYou campaign.

What's your first memory about Air Max?
My first memory of Air Max is when i was in middle school, I copped a pair of Air Max 90s and have been in love with Air Max ever since.
What are some of your favorite features about the shoe?
My favorite features on the shoe are the corduroy upper and the velour insole.
Are there any elements of the shoe that relate to you or your lifestyle?
Elements that relate to my lifestyle is how the shoe frays after wearing, I like my shoes a lil beat.
What does Air Max mean to you and your city?
Air Max means a lot to my city of Atlanta. It pretty much represents the culture for us sneakerheads.

What's your first memory about Air Max?
My first memory is actually my first time ever coming to Houston in 1995 and witnessing the culture. I’ve never seen the 95 air max being rocked in the way Houston people wore them. The creased up jeans and gold grills gave the Nike it’s own flair, which also made me want a pair.
What are some of your favorite features about the shoe?
The bubble bottom is my favorite feature. It’s a smooth shoe and you can do a lot with it.
Are there any elements of the shoe that relate to you or your lifestyle?
The element that best fits me is the the color ways. They’re aggressive and noticeable “that’s my aura.” The shoe is also very fashionable which is my occupation. The fabric chooses are amazing and well thought out. Dealing with my cut and sew company, quality fabrics are key in every design. I feel this shoe is a reflection of me.
What does Air Max mean to you and your city?
The Air Max is Houston. It’s a Houston shoe. The Air Max will forever be that.
