Air Jordan XIV Retro - "Black Toes"
Posted on September 18 2014
We don't know exactly why, but its sure is nice to see the Jordan 14's finally getting the love they deserve this year. Despite the sick inspiration, and the lore that spawned from his final, championship-clinching shot, the 14's have long held their status as being one of the more under-appreciated models in the Air Jordan lineage. But it seems we've turned a page, as MJ's first post-retirement release finally gets its day in the sun.
After the triumphant return of the Air Jordan 6 “Sport Blue”, another rare air classic finds its way out of the Jordan Brand vault. Now, despite what many of you may believe, smooth uppers on the 14 aren't actually a new thing. Originally released in 1999, the launch colorway of the AJ 14 original campaign is back for the first time sans the ribbed panels we've gotten used to seeing on past retros. Referred to as the "Black Toes" - for obvious reasons - this set stays true to its original form with its premium white leather base and black suede toebox.
The truest OG Jordan heads know that your collection could never be complete without a set of TRUE Black Toes - lets just pretend the ones from '06 never happened. So don't mess around this weekend, because who knows the next time you'll see a set of these for box.
